Yoga therapy or differently called mediyoga are different ways of applying yogic methods with the aim of helping patients that are experiencing health related issues.

Applying yoga as therapy entitles the application of yogic practices in order to alleviate disease. The ultimate goal of yoga is the union of mind, body and spirit. Over the centuries however, while observing the consequences of the practice of yoga, it was noted that many people appeared to be have good health related results while practicing yoga.

It is to be noted that yoga therapists are not doctors and under no condition are going to create a diagnosis. As no disease is going to be treated without proper diagnoses, such diagnosis have to be made with the help of other therapies before a disease can be treated by yoga therapy.

For some illnesses, such as spondylitis or certain psychosomatic illnesses, yoga is often a good solution. In other diseases like diabetes, hypertension and asthma, yoga acts in parallel to medical treatment. In these cases patients can experience a faster recovery if yogic practices are started alongside the medicines.

Yoga is unfortunately of almost no use in case of bone fractures, physical injuries or illnesses where surgery appears to be the only option. Yoga can nevertheless used in these cases with regards to augmenting the overall healing process, after the surgery has taken place.
